T-shirt Dress

I have seen lots of ideas on blogs lately about taking a shirt, cutting it short, and adding a skirt. I wasn't really planning on doing one myself until I noticed in one of my favorite pink T-shirts there was a HOLE in the armpit!

That's hot.

So I thought...Why not turn it into a dress?!

I kind of just made it all up, so there's no play-by-play pictures, but maybe when I make another one I'll remember to do that.

My three favorite things about this dress: the little gathered, cap sleeve, the belt loops, and the ruffle flowers.

I'm going to take this on the trip we're taking to Myrtle Beach next week. It seems like the perfect walk-on-the-beach kind of dress.

No Sew Pennant Wreath

Remember this wreath?

I was pretty done with it once we moved to NC. I wanted something new and fresh and cute. I pinned this idea on Pinterest and decided to make a replica, but something a little easier.

Carissa's Creative Space

And what's easier than busting out the glue gun? I love that thing.

First, I cut out a bunch of pennant shapes from PAPER, not fabric.

Then I just hot glued the back top of the pennant onto a string of twine.

Tie the twine around your wreath, make some cute little bows, and TA-DA!!

It took me about 20-30 mins. Sooo easy and a super cute update on my door! (I hate that blasted "B" on the door. Someday we won't live in an apartment, but in a HOUSE.)

Kiddie Alterations

I found an awesome tutorial on Make it & Love it for altering children's clothing. I pinned it on Pinterest for future needs. And then one morning I saw this:

I guess I'll need that tutorial now! He needs summer jammies anyway.

I took his old jammies:

And with the tutorial I was able to turn them into new, summer PJs!

Ahhh, much better!

Thank you, Make it & Love it!! Awesome tutorial.

Ruffled Lamp Tutorial

I'm so excited! These lamps turned out so well!! Sooo...I wanted to share the tutorial with you.

I know, I know. There are 150 million ruffled lamp tutorials out there. So why not one more, that's what I say.

I got these lamps from Goodwill for $3 for each base and $2 for each shade. Not a pretty color, eh?

I so did not want to try to figure out how to cover the shade. So I may have cheated a little and sprayed them with primer. Cheating? Yes. Easier? Definitely.

Nice repainted bases.

To make the ruffle, I cut out strips of muslin about 2 inches wide. Then I sewed down the center of the fabric strip (make sure your stitch length is on the longest setting). Do not backstitch. When you're done pull the bobbin thread and pull it until you get the amount of rufflage you want!

Hot glue just the center of the strip onto the shade (my shade is pretty sad looking here!).

Taaaa-daaaa!

Ooooo, lots of ruffles!

Look at her in action! Sweet.

Door Update

I have soooo been wanting to enter the world of vinyl. And I even have a Cricut! But I've been a little hesitant, mainly because of my ignorance of vinyl. However, after a few tips from my sister-in-law, I decided to take the lunge.

I started with my front door. I love how it turned out! It definitely adds a little somethin' somethin' to my otherwise bland door.

(I also need to update that wreath. I'm not lovin' it anymore.)

Also, for my church calling/job, I teach the little kids (we call it Primary). The Primary prez decided to start something called Primary Panda. She got a panda from Build-A-Bear, ordered missionary clothes for it (can you believe they HAD missionary clothes?), and stuck it in a box. A child goes home with it every week and brings it back the next week. The prez asked me to make a binder so that the kids can write how Primary Panda helped them remember to read the scriptures (the Primary theme is I Know the Scriptures are True). So I busted out the Cricut and came up with this, from many ovals and circles.

Craftaholics Anonymous Gift Exchange!

I'm going to put pictures of both presents, the one I made & the one I received. I hope that's not against the rules! It was my first year of doing this and it was really a lot of fun.

Well, my partner, Christen, told me she had a Nook Color and she could really use a cover for it. So I looked on Etsy for some ideas and made a pattern. However, I was trying to make it really complicated (lots of pockets and whatnot) so I decided to change up the pattern. I also wasn't in love with the fabric I was using, so I changed that up, too.

Finished product:

In our emails back and forth to each other, my partner asked if I liked any sports teams. Ha. I almost laughed. But then I thought...well, I guess I DO like BYU sports. So I told her that and I guess I told her about baby Gracie because this is what I got from her (isn't it great?!):

I love what I got! I hope she feels the same way!!
